[Jack's Story]

Jack was the child of two magic-users (or 'sorcerers'). Since his parents rarely came home (they traveled far to aide whoever hired them), Jack would mostly wonder around the tower and cause mischief for anyone who happened to wonder by.

One day, Jack wondered upon a room in the tower he had never seen before. He wondered in, only to see it was filled with piles upon piles of books. He picked up a few random books and quickly skimmed the covers. 'History of Sorcery', 'Sorcerer's Guide to Defense'... None of them seemed too interesting. He quickly threw them to the floor and sighed. Suddenly, the stack still sitting up on the table shifted, and fell across the floor with a thud. Jack raised a brow. One book seemed to be seeping a dark fog, and the letters of the title glowed. 'Forbidden Spells?,' Jack read the title aloud with interest. Jack picked up the book, opening it to the first page. He frowned upon seeing a 'Warning' description page. He skimmed through it and rolled his eyes. It didn't take long for him to flip to the middle of the book.
The page's lettering seemed to pulsate as he read the title of the first spell. 'Power and Immortality...' He smirked excitedly. Without a thought he read the spell out loud. A sudden burst of energy illuminated the book. It blinded Jack for a brief second. As his sight returned from the sudden flash, he looked at his hands. They glowed and seeped with the same energy as the book. Jack grinned.

Ever since Jack was able to leave the house, he used his unbound power to gain power among the people. He just needed to make sure he never fell in love...(he read the warnings of his book recently, he had to make sure the spell would last) then he could keep his powers for as long as he liked.

Jack was doing his usual rounds of the tower. He saw to it personally that the tower was always free of intruders. It wasn't like he could trust the guards. He he may have only just turned 20 but he was not to be fooled by the angry glances he got. Why should he be? He did jail anyone he liked, and killed whenever it fit his mood...obviously not many people appreciate that. Just as Jack turned a corner he heard a noise behind him. He turned quickly, ready to use his powers to kill. He loosened up as soon as he saw it was a girl. 'Ack! Sorry! I didn't mean to intrude sir.' *she bowed* 'I just got lost, I was chasing after a rat and ended up in here. I had no idea...Sorry.'
Jack's eyes widened, and he laughed a bit at her excuse. 'you were...hah, chasing a rat? What on earth for?'. 'Err' she blushed and looked to the ground ' I was trying to test my fighting ability'. She was embarrassed. 'Oh? You were?', he laughed but suddenly his heart seemed to burst with pain. He tried to hide the immense pain, but he ended up subduing it by shooing away the little girl. He didn't understand what this was at first, but as the girl grew and as he watched from a distance, he soon knew....

A skulled mask had grown over his face over the years, and the whites of his eyes turned black. He had deceived the warning. He had fallen in love. Now, he was cursed with this appearance, and, unless he could strike a specific agreement with the one he loved, he would die within 10 years.
